See all EU institutions and bodiesMore than one hundred million people in Europe are exposed to harmful transport noise levels, a major environmental health risk causing cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, and affecting ecosystems. The EU aims to reduce share of people chronically disturbed by transport noise by 30% by 2030, but previous assessments show that progress has been very slow.
The event aims to raise attention and exchange views on noise pollution, its impacts and solutions. It also marks the publication of the EEA’s flagship report ‘Noise in Europe 2025’, launched on the same day, which provides comprehensive analysis and latest information on noise pollution based on reporting under the Environmental Noise Directive.
The event in the European Parliament (Brussels) is hosted by MEP Antonio Decaro, the Chair of the Committee on the Environment, Climate and Food Safety in the European Parliament, and co-organised by the European Environment Agency (EEA).
